I thought a good way to end 2022 is by sharing my article in the Pastel World magazine with you.
Pastel World is a new publication and this edition is only their second publication. It is published in China, but written in English and features pastel artists from all around the world. The gorgeous cover painting is by Daniel Keys, an oil painter who has recently taken up pastels. I was honored and surprised when they contacted me about writing an article on teaching, which is near and dear to my heart.
The editors had done their research and the questions in the article are what they sent me. It was thought provoking to answer questions of my journey and how teaching has been at the heart of it. Much of my art education has come through problem solving with other artists in the classroom and I am a firm believer in that the best way to learn a concept is to teach it.
Please excuse the poor photography of the article. I was given a few copies of the magazine which is beautifully printed on heavy paper which makes it a delight to look at but difficult to photograph. I am attaching the article as a pdf. If you would like to read it please click the link below.
