Freezing Your Oil Painting To Slow Drying Time
As an instructor I often start oil demonstrations and do not get to finish them. If I want to work on them later using a wet on wet approach I can stick them in my freezer to slow the drying time. I let them sit about 15 minutes after I remove them and allow them to warm up before I start working on again. It is best to work on them within a week or so. Welcome Sunset was in my freezer for over a month before I worked on it again. The paint had begun to tack up but that created an interesting texture.
This works well for oil palettes too an can keep your palette fresh between painting sessions.
