As Post Modernism retreats in our rearview mirrors, the lame duck king Damien Hirst recently quipped "I hate art that makes you think" in order to justify the value of his own vacant work. Yet, at the same time, he is furiously buying the work of Francis Bacon whose work does indeed make us think.

Let us hope that works like those of Bacon continue to inspire meaningful work.

Although I am forced to depend on offering less meaningful work in order to survive as an artist, I refuse to let "survival work" dominate all that I have to offer.
